In your own projects, practice is spaced over days, so it sticks: flashcards, games and quizzes from your material.
An example written for this page. In your own maps, every point cites the page of your source.
Reading with this browser's voice. (a one-time download, then it works offline)
Ava isn’t installed in this browser. On a Mac, add it in System Settings → Accessibility → Spoken Content → System voice → Manage Voices (English (US) → Ava), then reload.
Voice input uses your browser’s speech recognition; in Chrome the audio is processed by Google.
More voices and settingsYour own material becomes a map like this, with slides, a guided lesson and quizzes, every point linked to its source.
How it works
From a document to knowledge you keep, in three steps
-
1
Add what you’re reading
Upload a file, paste a link or DOI, or send a page from your browser. Choose the chapters you need.
-
2
Get a map and slides
The main ideas in learning order, with slides for each topic. Every point cites the page it came from. Prefer to read or listen first? Open the source in the Reader and map just the sections you want.
-
3
Learn it, then prove it
A voice guides you through the map. Quick checks, games and flashcards make it stick.
What you get
Built for understanding, not skimming
Every point is cited
Each bullet on a slide links to the page and the sentence it came from. Click it and the source opens at that passage, highlighted. Quotes the source doesn’t contain are flagged.
A guide that talks you through it
Press Guide me and a natural voice explains the map topic by topic. Key facts pin themselves to the map as they’re said. Pause, go back, or ask a question at any point.
Practice that makes it stick
Quick checks during the lesson, quizzes, matching games and flashcards that come back just before you’d forget. Every answer shows the passage that proves it.
The source, to read or to hear
The Reader shows the original, with its pictures, formulas and code; every citation opens it at the quoted words. Read at your pace or let a natural voice read it, skipping citations and footnotes. Highlight, comment, then map just the chapters you need.
Private by design
Your documents and maps stay in your browser, or in your own Google Drive or OneDrive with Pro. Use your own AI key, or your Claude or ChatGPT subscription with Plus; your key never reaches our servers. Download your work any time.
Natural voices, on your device
Hear how it explains
The guide, the Reader and every answer can be read aloud. The voices run in your browser: free, private, and quick once they’re set up.
Try your own words
Setting up the voice, first time only…
The first time, the voice downloads once (); after that it starts in about a second. This voice reads the language you type.
- Runs in your browser
- Your text stays private
- Quick to set up
The voices and their portraits are AI-generated. In Microsoft Edge, its multilingual voices are offered too.
Pick your situation
Whatever you’re reading, there’s a way through it
An exam in two weeks
Turn on Exam focus: every topic gets a likely exam question with a model answer, and flashcards come back just before you’d forget.
Journal club on Friday
A paper becomes question, methods, findings and limitations, with a deck and speaker notes. Every bullet cites its page.
A long report to get through
Listen to it in the Reader on the way, then map only the chapters that matter and let the guide explain them.
Aistounding writes your maps with OpenRouter’s free models. No card, and no key to copy.
- Press Connect. OpenRouter opens.
- Sign in (Google works) and press Authorize.
- You’re back here, ready to make maps.
Free models allow about 50 requests a day in all, and a new map takes 10–20. When one is busy or at its limit, Aistounding moves to the next free one. It never switches to a paid model.
Tip: $10 of credit on your OpenRouter account raises the free limit to 1,000 requests a day, and free models still cost nothing. A free Gemini key as well lets Aistounding carry on when OpenRouter’s limit is reached.
Recognized: . Web pages, PDFs, YouTube videos (read by Gemini), DOIs, PubMed and arXiv IDs.
A scanned or handwritten document: when you press Create, Read & listen or Save for later, your AI reads the selected pages from their images (one request for every 3 pages) and cuts out the pictures on them. Select only the pages you need.
Longer than the AI can read in parts: the end of your selection would be left out. Select less for complete coverage.
No table of contents was found, so choose pages below. The first pages that fit one request are pre-selected.
Next you choose the chapters and the kind of material. Or open it in the Reader first to read or listen, and map just the sections you want.
Only add material you’re allowed to use. Terms
No AI key needed. The free plan includes enough AI for about 10–15 new maps a month.

Questions
Good to know
Is it really free?
Yes. The Free plan includes 3 projects with guided lessons, games and flashcards, using your own AI key. Plus adds 30 projects, bigger documents, PowerPoint and your Claude or ChatGPT subscription; Pro adds Google Drive and OneDrive sync. Compare plans.
Do I need an AI key?
For your own maps and slides, yes: a free Gemini key works, or connect your Claude or ChatGPT subscription. Reading or listening to a source in the Reader needs no AI, and the demos need nothing at all.
Where are my documents stored?
In your browser, on your device. Requests to the AI go straight from your browser to the provider you chose. Privacy.
Can I trust what it says?
Every point links to the sentence it came from, and quotes that aren’t in the source are flagged, so you can check anything in one click.
Read it once. Remember it.
Start with a demo, or bring your own document. Your first three maps are free.

No folder to suggest yet: a folder needs at least two different projects on one subject. This is how Tidy up sees the projects that aren’t in a folder:
Once you have two projects on a subject, Tidy up offers a folder for them. You can always make one yourself from the menu beside Tidy up.
